Pros
Price
The first thing that’s noticeable about the Intex 77-Inches PureSpa is the price compared to others of the same size. This portable hot tub is being sold at Amazon.com for a price which is not much more than some suppliers are charging for a smaller tub. If price is a major decision maker for you then this Intex PureSpa is worth considering.
Built with strength and comfort in mind
The Intex inflatable hot tubs are made in a way that gives strength to the sides of hot tub. They are made of puncture resistant 3 ply material which not only looks good but is comfortable to sit on and lean against while you’re inside the tub. To give substance to the structure of the sides they use Fiber-Tech construction, which is thousands of high strength fibres incorporated to make it strong enough to sit on the side.
Easy to inflate and setup
Once you receive you’re Intex 77-Inches PureSpa hot tub you need to open it up in the area that you are going to use it. Finding a flat surface is essential and it needs to be close to an electrical outlet and a water source. You can put it on a deck but you need to check it can hold the weight of a tub full of water of 210 gallons plus people.
The pump that deals with all the functions also inflates your hot tub. Included is an inflation hose and there is an air outlet on the pump unit which it attaches to and an inlet point on the inflatable tub where it can twist lock into and then you just need to switch your pump on and press the bubble button and the air will start blowing up your tub. When your tub is firm to the touch turn off the power button and remove the hose, place the stopper in place on the tub. While you have it setup you can inflate the cover for the hot tub and then you can remove the hose from the pump and screw the cover back on the pump otherwise your bubbles won’t get into your tub.
There are 3 connection points on the pump unit and on the hot tub which connect together. If you connect these when the tub is inflated but empty they should go together easily and the screw connectors need to be hand tightened. Make sure the drainage plug in the base of the tub is in and screw in your filters. You are ready to go.
Water softener and filtration.
The Intex Intex 77-Inches PureSpa has a built in hard water treatment system. Part of the problems with some spa systems is the effect of the water deposits on the pump, hard water build up limits water flow and reduces the life of your spa. The system generates an electro-magnetic field that the water flows through and that creates crystals from the calcium and minerals and these are then caught in the filters leaving you soft water, which is also more gentle on your skin. There are 2 filters in this hot tub, the 2 filters go on the C connectors in the tub before you add the water. You can leave the filter running all the time, it’s not really noticeable to you but will be working away to keep your water clear.
Cons
Water maintenance not included
With any kind of pool you need to be aware of water maintenance. You can buy a chemical floater to add in some chlorine tablets to keep the microorganisms at bay, but it is not included. There are other things that you may need like testing strips and other chemicals for balancing the water levels. All these things are an added cost that you need to be aware of.
Added cost of keeping the water heated
There is also the added cost of keeping your water heated to a level where you can use it as often as you wish. There is obviously an initial cost of the first water heating which might take 24 hours to get to 104F which is the normal hot tub level but each time you use the tub, especially if you using the bubble massage jets the temperature is going to drop and needs to be reheated. You need to figure this into your costs, you can keep the temperature a bit lower and turn it up a couple of hours before using the tub, it might save a few dollars.
Accessories available but none included
There are Intex pure spa accessories on Amazon.com for inflatable spas but none of these are included with the hot tub. What Intex hot tub parts you get are the basic hot tub with control pump unit, ground sheet and storage bag. There are seats
available for shorter people or children if the water level is too deep for them to be comfortable, there are cup holders
that can sit over the edge of the hot tub to hold a drink. If you are tall you might benefit from a headrest cushion
but they will be an extra cost if you want them, although I have to say that they are not necessary to enjoy your hot tub. You can get tubs with some of these things included but they are usually more expensive.
