The American Spas AM-628TS is a 2 person spa and has a moulded inner shell to give you a strong durable hot tub. It’s made from a patented 7-layer laminate Fiber steel Construction system and to make the strongest shell they reinforce it with steel and wood. So that your hot tub has the longest life possible they use the thickest acrylic available for the shell so you don’t get any weak spots. The outer cabinet is constructed from fibre glass and is available in two colorways, Sterling and Smoke or Tuscany Sun and Mahogany.

You don’t need to be worried about keeping the water at the heat you want because the tub is well insulated between the shell and the cabinet to keep the heat in and you are supplied with a thick cover to fit over the top for all round insulation.

As this is a plug and play type of hot tub the hardest part about installation is deciding where you want to install it and moving it into place. Once you have fitted your connectors for the hot tub cover you are ready to fill your spa. Remove the filter and put it to soak while you fill the tub through the filter canister. Replace the filter and switch on which will start the self diagnostics on the spa and prime the pump, once it has done that it will set your water heating. Adjust the temperature to suit what you prefer and add the cover.

The heater and pump are situated within the cabinet so can’t be seen but it has a removable panels so you can access it when required. You just need to position your hot tub so you can get into the panel easily.

As in all hot tubs you will need to practice a water maintenance routine to keep your water clear and sanitized. There is a section in the manual which explains quite well how to use chlorine or bromine to keep your water safe to relax in if you aren’t sure what to do.

On the American Spas AM-628TS there is an ozonator which also helps to keep the water clean, it comes on when the filter is activated purifying the water using active ozone bubbles.

One of the main jobs in keeping your water clean is to keep the filter clean, soaking it in filter cleaner on a regular basis will keep it functional and you can always buy a spare one so you can switch them out while you’re cleaning the other.

This AM-628TS includes 28 water jets around the 2 seats which are adjustable so you can have a stronger water massage if you like it like that or turn it down if you just want something more gentle. To add to the relaxation there is a waterfall feature and an underwater light which changes color giving a wonderful ambience as the evening falls.

Customer Opinion

Most people are very happy with their spas, the delivery has been good with plenty of notice, installation easy, although some have had it wired to a 240v system by an electrician for a quicker heat up. Customers are loving the jets and feel that this jacuzzi is just the right size for 2 people. Many use it every night and recommend it to others.

What people have found that they don’t like is that the temperature drops quite quickly when you’re in it. Also the cover is a bit awkward to use and you have to use a key to remove the latches on it to use the tub. One customer found the panel where the electrics are housed difficult to find as not marked up and no notch in the panel for the wire so it had to be cut.

Verdict

When you’re looking for a portable hot tub for two and you don’t mind paying a bit more for quality, durability and year round usability then you definitely should consider the American Spas AM-628TS 2-Person 28-Jet Triangle Spa. It’s triangular shape lets you fit it into a corner on a deck or just fit into a smaller space in your garden but you get all the features of a larger jacuzzi. There are inflatable hot tubs at a lesser price if that is your only option but to take advantage of your tub even in the winter American Spas AM-628TS would be a better choice.
